Attempted Murder Case Filed Against Jagan Reddy & Former IPS Officers
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and two senior IPS officers are among five individuals charged in an attempted murder case following a complaint by TDP MLA K Raghurama Krishna Raju. The former CID chief PV Sunil Kumar and former Intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu are the two IPS officers implicated.
In his complaint, Undi MLA Raju alleged that he was arrested by the CID in Hyderabad in 2021. He accused Jagan Mohan Reddy and other officials of orchestrating a criminal conspiracy against him.
Raju said in the complaint, “On May 14, 2021, I was arrested without due process, I was bullied, unlawfully physically pulled inside the police vehicle, and forcibly taken to Guntur the same night.”
Raju, a former member of the YSR Congress Party, claimed that following his arrest, he was not presented before a local magistrate and that the CID lacked a transit arrest warrant. He was taken to the agency’s office in Guntur.
Raju alleged that PV Sunil Kumar, PSR Anjaneyulu, and other police officers assaulted him with belts and sticks, denying him his heart medication despite knowing he had undergone bypass surgery. He also claimed that some officers applied pressure to his chest in an attempt to kill him, confiscated his phone, and beat him until he revealed its password.
He further alleged that after being transferred to a government hospital, he received inadequate care from Dr. Prabhavathi, who allegedly issued false medical certificates under police pressure. Raju stated that PV Sunil Kumar threatened to kill him if he criticized then Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Prabhavathi, former Guntur Government General Hospital superintendent, and retired police officer R Vijay Paul have also been named in the case.
