India references the 1985 Kanishka flight bombing to highlight the Khalistani threat to Canada
India has referenced the 1985 Air India flight 182 bombing to underscore its concerns about the threat from Khalistani elements in Canada. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar stated that the attack serves as a reminder of why terrorism should never be tolerated.
Jaishankar emphasized that until the tragic 9/11 attacks in the US by al-Qaeda, the bombing of Air India flight 182 stood as the deadliest aviation-related terrorist attack in history. It remains Canada’s worst terrorist attack, claiming the lives of all 329 individuals aboard, including over 270 Canadian citizens, mostly of Indian descent, and 24 Indians.
On the 39th anniversary of “one of the worst acts of terrorism in history,” Jaishankar expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He underscored that this anniversary serves as a stark reminder of why terrorism must never be tolerated.
